Our Story

Years ago (1988) two long time friends & car enthusiasts, Rick Hayward & Tom Pickett living in Caledon discussed the idea of a cruise night for Bolton. They though it was a good idea, putting together a fun night talking cars, listening to music and showcasing there prized possessions and with this they approached Hugh Sutherland the owner of the Canadian Tire store in Bolton at the time who agreed to let them use the parking lot.  After 4 successful seasons with the help of a few friends, Steve Brown & Dan the music man LaChapelle they where approached by three Caledon East enthusiasts, Fred Jones, John McGuire and Satch Beraldo who convinced them to form an official club. So they decided to form The Caledon Cruisers Car Club (1991) with the same intention of having a fun evening talking & showcasing cars and listening to music but they envisioned more, a way to give back to the community that had afforded them a living and provided an enriched peaceful place to raise there families. So with this in mind the club members sought out local organizations and charities they could support as a way of giving back.

Over the course of these years The Caledon Cruisers has supported the following local charities and organizations; Meals on Wheels, Family Transition Place, Big brothers and Bethell Hospice. In addition they have recently added a scholarship  in memory of Bruce Chevalier an avid long time member and car enthusiast who recently passed away in 2012. Bruce was the go to guy for almost anything and he will be surely missed. In his honour The Caledon Cruisers each year present The Bruce Chevalier Award, a technical award that is presented at Humberview High School to an outstanding senior transportation student who is pursuing a career in auto mechanics.

Fred Jones severed as the first president of The Caledon Cruisers and with the help of its initial members drew up a constitution. The slogan "Just for Fun" was coined as Clubs motto and has been incorporated in all their memorabilia ever since. Over the years the club has participated in Speedorama and Performance World and won the best club display four years in a row.

The Club is grateful to the members of the community and local businesses that have supported them throughout the years and they hope that with there continued support they will continue their mission of giving back and having fun.
